This experience was great and not only that it was helpful for me and my friends who are in my school's cross-country team. The way how I got involved in helping them out was basically me trying to relax before the next day in which I had to take the SAT. One of my friends suggested freeing my mind from things so it could be fresh when I had to take the SAT by joining him and our other friend who was also on the team on their run. Unfortunately, I'm not much of a runner so I was decided to not go, but they really wanted me to go, so eventually decided to take my bike which was ok to them. When we finally met again for the run I came up with the idea that me riding on the bike will be helpful and beneficial for all of us. The reason why is because I could ride at a constant pace and they could try to match it or even surpass it. This was beneficial for all us because of one we were doing something other than playing video games or watching tv, we exercising which keeps our bodies healthy, and we all helped each other keep a certain pace without using so much energy.
As a clarification, this experience was put under service along with activity and creativity because even though I'm not helping out at some shelter or doing tutoring with students, I believe a service is where we help people in a beneficial manner or because we just simply want to help without thinking or even wanting a reward and also that you are willing to take time out of your schedule to help. In my case, I helped my friends keep a certain pace and even timed them to see how long they could keep it up and that also applied to me since I also wanted to how long I could keep a certain pace on the bike. At the end of the day, I learned that I had to keep working hard on keeping a certain pace and also that I had to work on finding a way to you use less energy on going uphill which also applied to my cross-country friends because "hills are the worst enemy for a runner or a biker". Overall, I really enjoyed helping them out in any way that could and I really appreciated them for letting me join in their run and sort of be like a coach to them and to myself. This is my second time inputting an experience that is related with cycling. I hope it's not boring, but this is something that is awesome to do. Cycling really benefits the body because it's a good exercise, but it also helps clear the mind. I have realized that when you do what you love to do it becomes part of you and not only that you begin to commit yourself to keep doing because it could be something that can help you when you are having a bad day. Everyone has a hobbies or activity they love to do because to them it's amazing and it makes them feel great and to me riding my bike makes me this way. I understand it isn't like my mindfulness Mondays in which I analyze quotes, this is something different where I can say what I like to do when I'm not analyzing quotes. I'll admit sometimes I need to take a break from analyzing great quotes and riding my bike is the perfect way to relax. I know for those who read this might why it's so amazing well it's because when you ride your mind gets clear and it makes you feel free. However, I do feel this way, but at times I like to be creative and I like to challenge myself at times to make this great experience be fun.
To continue on, when I ride, I challenge to either ride a certain distance or time myself to see how long I can ride. I understand this makes it seem a little stressful or even a bit more work, but it actually isn't because you get to learn about your body more and when I mean body I mean that you get learn about how much endurance you have and find ways to improve. This something I love to do improve on everything that I have learned before because I love to learn and I know that when you learn there always room for improvement. So before I leave I want to encourage people that if you are having a rough day or you just want to relax or even challenge yourself, ride a bike and see what happens out in your community because nature always provides the best things in this world. Until Monday, I'll see you next time. This is an app that play which is based on crossword puzzles and it very fun, but challenging at the same time. This app is again is like the crossword puzzles on the newspapers or in the books, but now they are on the phone. When you open the app it will tell you start at level 1 and will show how to play the game. After it's over more levels are open to you and the higher the levels are the more difficult they become. My personal experience of the app is that it's amazing and usually makes me struggle since in some levels it provides you with many letters and sometimes you run out of words to put in and that's when the concentration starts. In one level it took me 20 minutes to figure out the last word in the puzzle with only using five letters at my disposal.
This app really helps the mind start clicking and helps with concentration and learning new words. I have observed that people get a little cocky with puzzles like these, but in reality they will be the ones who will struggle the most. It may seem bad, but struggling is good because it means that we are actually using our brains into figuring out a simple. The last thing that is worth mentioning is that when you open the app it will always have daily puzzle for you everyday and it could become like a warm-up when you want to take on some levels of the game. Learning Outcomes:
Reflection: This activity is my second favorite thing to do in my free time. I really enjoy training with a sword ever since I learned about samurais in my 7th-grade year and then later in my freshman year when I began to watch an anime called "One Piece" which has a character who is a swordsman and uses three swords. After learning about this character I really felt inspired to follow his footsteps and I have to say it is very fun while at the same time very interesting to do. I learned that if you want to become a true swordsman you have to be very disciplined and you must have to be one with nature by meditation and extreme training. This training requires you to go beyond your limit and have your mind very strong. It may seem that this seems useless in life, but to me, it taught how to clear my mind and to be very athletic and to let nothing of getting in the way of achieving my goal.
Learning Outcomes:
Reflection: Last year I began to sketch because it was needed for my engineering class which was pretty cool. The first two triads of last year, we had to try our best to sketch objects and then later we learned certain techniques to make our sketches better. When we learned these techniques I began to notice that my sketches were getting better and better. Unfortunately this year I am not taking that class again, but I recently began to sketch once more. When I did my sketches, they were terrible again, but I didn't let that stop since now I really wanted to draw character s like superheroes with superpowers. It still is challenging when I sketch, but if I keep at it I will become a better sketch artist. I like this because it really forces me to keep going when it doesn't look right or something isn't going according to plan and that I really like.
Learning Outcomes:
Reflection: I usually play basketball when I have nothing else to do and I always play with my friend Carlos. When we play we usually train ourselves to improve what we need to improve. What we like most of the time is practicing our shots and see how many times we can keep it constant without missing a single shot. Well, unfortunately, I'm not very good my highest was 5 while Carlos always got a higher score than and usually by 3 or more. Then when we finish our training we play against each other and it is always a bast even though I always lose. I don't mind losing I just mind if I have improved or not and there is always an improvement. To me playing a sport helps you create your character and how you manage things when there aren't going your way. So to conclude, playing basketball helps me understand that there is always room for improvement.
Learning Outcomes:
Reflection: In the past two days I have been trying to learn a new language and I have to say that it is very difficult. Since I already know how to speak English and Spanish, I just wanted to take it a step further by trying to learn Japanese. I also was trying to learn Russian, but it was a lot harder than it sounded. When I finally got frustrated I decided to move on to Japanese. This was my second choice since I really love Japanese culture and I would love to learn more about it. Also, another reason why I want to learn Japanese is that I watch cartoon-like shows called anime which the characters only speak Japanese, but each anime has English subtitles so we can understand what they are saying. This makes me want to take it a step further by trying to understand it without subtitles. Also, one day I will go to Japan to see the beautiful cities and see ancient temples. If I really want this to happen then I cannot falter and give up, I must keep on persevering through until I become fluent in the language. So far I really need to work hard, but I will manage it with if I keep trying and I will keep posting my progress for others to see how much I have learned.
Learning Outcomes:
Reflection: Doing word searches is fun and it helps my mind in a good way. To clarify it helps with making my brain stronger by searching for words. Also, I sometimes time myself when I do this and I like it because it puts more pressure, but at the same time, it helps improve my visual reflexes. What I mean by this is that I can spot words a lot quicker by doing so and timing myself every time to see if I can improve, To add doing this can also help me read faster and helps me think critically. I love to read and I have been noticing that I have been reading a lot quicker, but while still understanding what is going on in the book. This really helps me think a lot more critical because of there a lot of letters and sometimes they make up a lot of words and some that look similar to the ones you need to find. All in all, this is a fun activity to do when there is nothing else to do and you get to benefit out of this as well. I will most definitely keep on doing this to see if can become a lot quicker.
