"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go..."- Dr. Seuss
Well I have to say, it feels good to be back doing Mindfulness Mondays, since I really missed doing them, but when you really worked hard this school year and summer finally comes, it's worth taking a break to get your strength replenished in order to be prepared for the new one and making it worthwhile, especially when it is your last. Well enough of me, I hope everyone who reads my blog has had a nice summer so far, but I think it's time to get back into analyzing inspirational quotes. For starters, isn't it nice to start the MIndfulness Mondays with one of the greatest children's author of all time, Dr. Seuss. I have to say, I read his awesome books because they were so fun to read due to the fact that his books taught kids how to rhyme. Now, in the present day, I'm interested what inspirational people have said in the past and to see their quotes effect on people. So continuing on with the analysis of the quote, I will admit, once I rad the quote, I felt that it had so much great positivity and power that could potentially turn someone's world right side up if they come across this quote. For those who don't feel the power or don't get it when they first read it, let me make it clear for you. How I see it, Dr. Seuss was trying to reveal to people that each individual has their right and power to do what they want to do. He also made it clear that we can head in whatever direction we want because we are all different and everyone walks different paths. Another thing to point out, he uses repetition of the word "you" as means to convey that the individual has the power to strive in whatever direction they choose to go and it's that individuals power alone to decide where to go. I will be honest, this quote is very moving and true because I really believe that everyone is different and because of their choice this world has become interesting. Also before I move on how this quote connects to the IB profile, I would like also point out that this isn't true in its full capacity because I have noticed that sometimes people need help in finding what directions and that is why we have family and friends because they are the ones who help us decide what we want to do. Well, it felt good to analyze the quote and now its time to connect this awesome quote with the learner profile. As far as I can see the traits that this quote follows under are: risk-taker, thinker, and reflective. To begin, this quote relates to the trait of being a risk-taker because in life, whatever we want to do usually have some sort risk and sometimes we are so determined to take the risk that we take it because what we want to achieve is in sight and nothing will stop us to reach our desire. Next, the quote is related to the trait of a thinker because every individual must decide what path to walk on and that requires a lot of thinking. I would understand that some people would not understand me, but hear me out. We have to think ahead of time on what we want to do and it may seem easy at first, but in reality, it's complex. To clarify, when a person has their mind set on something they decide what path to walk on, but they need to decide to either to walk on the easy path or the path that has many bumps along the way. At first, when you read the previous sentence, it may seem confusing, but what I'm trying to say that there are two ways (sometimes there is a third) to approach a goal and its either the easy, boring way or the bumpy, hard-working, but it is up to the individual of course and that is what matters, the decision of the individual. Well moving on, this quote relates to reflective because sometimes we walk off the path and when that happens we tend to lose ourselves and that will hurt us really bad mentally. But thankfully, we have people to help us get back on that path keep on fighting or sometimes the people will break out of their depression once they reflect what they have done wrong and figure out the solution in getting back on track. Well, it's good to be back and it as always it's fun doing this for you guys because I know someone will read my blog and they find the analyzation of quotes and what I say about them will help them find themselves and that would really make me happy. Until the next time.
