" I don't even know if there is such a thing as justice in the shinobi world. We fight believing in our own justice. But if the enemy is doing the same, who's right?"- Shisui Uchiha
It has truly been a while since I have done a Mindfulness Mondays and the funny thing is that today is Sunday. I guess today will be a special Mindfulness Monday Sunday edition and to let you guys this quote that this quote I did not get from Google, but rather I found it in one of my social media and it has to do with anime so let us hop to it. Like I said this quote is in connection with one of my favorite anime's of all time and on top of that this quote was said by one of my favorite characters in the anime. You guys are probably wondering what this is and to answers your question, this anime that this quote is connected to is Naruto Shippuden. This anime taught many great morals and I'll admit it also influenced how I see the world today. Before I proceed I'll provide a small summary of what this anime is about. To put it simply this anime is about a character name Naruto who grew up without parents and all the people in his village, the Hidden Leaf, hated him due to him having a nine-tailed fox inside him. His goal throughout the whole anime is to become the Hokage, the leader of the village, in order for everyone in the village to acknowledge him. His journey in becoming the Hokage isn't easy as he fights enemies stronger than him who are after his fox inside him. Other than that, the enemies always tell to give up his friends, his dreams, and his path, but as the protagonist, he doesn't and proves them wrong and also changes the enemies heart. After so many battles, he accomplishes his dream and the anime comes to an end. Again this anime is one of my favorites, but now it's time to analyze the quote. So the person who says the quote is Shisui Uchiha who is my favorite character and also very wise when it comes to the morals of the world. When I came across his quote, I was truly shocked and curious about its meaning. This quote truly changes how I perceive the word "justice" and I began to think deeply about what has happened in the past and the present and I was truly shocked in the sense that I began to feel a weird feeling that I could describe. What he basically meant that in his world there is no such thing as "true justice" because everyone in the world has their own justice in which they believe is true while others think the opposite. The more and more I thought about it, the more and more it made sense in the real world. I came to the conclusion that this quote also applied to the real world because there have been incidents where people do horrific things because they believe it is right and what they did is their definition of justice. Everyone would simply disagree with the person who has done harm to achieve their justice, but once they learn the reason behind their actions they begin to question their judgment. This was exactly what I began to do and at first, it was a bit scary to think this way, but the more I thought about the more I understood how life works. I'm glad that I came across this quote and I hope you guys also are glad because quotes like these can help you get a better understanding of how life works and how the real world operates. The last thing that it helps with is that everyone has their own version of justice which leads to the question of what exactly is justice and how far can it go before it's perceived as evil or good? Like every other quote that I have done in the past, it's time to connect this quote with the IB Learner Profile. While writing this whole Mindfulness Monday analysis, the parts that seem to call out to me are knowledgeable, reflective, thinkers, and open-minded. To begin, the reason why I saw this quote is associated with knowledgeable is because we are learning something that is worth learning and gives insight on how the world operates. This will then connect to being a thinker because once you read the quote, you will certainly will be thinking very hard towards what the quote is trying to convey. Then the quote will associate with being open-minded and reflective because you will think hard about everything you do along what other people do and you will begin to accept what others do. Not only that you will also become reflective when figuring what justice means and eventually you will begin to reflect upon what all the people who have been on the news for what they have done and you will begin to question if what they did was out the belief that they were simply doing to acquire justice. As a side note, this thinking process that the quote has made you do doesn't have to only apply to justice, but it could be applied to anything that people tend to perceive differently. Well this quote, I have to say, has truly moved me and change the way how I see and define the term justice and I wonder if it has done the same to you. Until the next Mindfulness Monday.
