"True happiness... arises, in the first place, from the enjoyment of one's self"- Joseph Addison
Well like I always say in each Mindfulness Monday entry, "it's good to be back in diving deep into the meaning of quotes. Recently I have been busy trying to get a project done for a class which would deprive me into doing Mindfulness Mondays, but I'm finally back and I will try to find time to do them as best as I can. Well, enough of that lets jump right into the quote of today. When I first read this quote I felt it wasn't inspirational like the previous ones I have done in the past. The reason why I say this because of the way how I felt the quote meant. I feel it doesn't provide anything motivational or inspirational, but rather a feeling that brought comfort. You may ask yourself "comfort?", but the reason why I say this is because the experiences I had in the past since when I started to attend high school. To put it simply, my past experiences have an influence on the interpretation of this quote's meaning. I interpreted this quote as basically meaning that once you have found happiness within yourself, it could augment when you find that happiness with others. I understand that there are going to be some people that will disagree with my interpretation, but to back up with my statement is that within the quote it has the words "...arises, in the first place..." which I took as the beginning to something greater. Since this quote is revealing how true happiness is created and when it seems to reveal that it can only seem to be found only when you find it within yourself. This was the way how I began to see the quote because I found my true happiness when began to get into school a lot more it led to me meeting my friends which are the people who helped augment my true happiness. My true happiness was helping others when they are in need and especially when they are going through some rough times. This happiness was discovered within myself in that I always had an urge to help even within myself when it came down to change things in my character that I did not like. Eventually, it led to me helping others and now I feel grateful and happy every time I do so and the thing that makes me happy the most is seeing the people I helped I helped and smile. I hope that people understand my interpretation, but now its time to connect this quote with the IB Learner profile. Looking at the IB Profile, the only components that this quote is associated with is caring, knowledgeable, and reflective. The reason why I feel that caring is associated with the quote is that when the true happiness is discovered you begin to care about it by the fact that you would do anything to not let it be destroyed when things seem not to go your way. Like I said previously, the happiness is augmented with the help of others who share the same happiness and care dearly to keep it growing or from having it extinguished, but this will lead to them caring about your well-being. To move on, this quote is associated with knowledgeable in that you begin to know about your true feelings when you first find true happiness. To clarify, once true happiness is found you begin to dive deep in all things that you have down and try figure out what emotions you get out of them and eventually it expands to how it makes other people feel. Lastly, this quote is associated with reflective in that once true happiness is found you begin to reflect how it was found and how it could influence you in a certain way. Every time you discover something or observe a change in your life you begin to reflect how it will affect you later on and with happiness, you will reflect how discovering its true form will affect you and at times others later on in life. As a reminder, everything that we do has an impact on our lives and its these things are what influences us to be who we are when we reflect upon finding the truth behind things in life. Well, that will be the end of this entry and I'll admit this quote was a bit different and difficult to analyze in the same way as the inspirational ones. I tried the best that I could to give the interpretation of this quote and I hope you will be able to understand it. Until the next time.
